Anyone running? I wanna, I wanna. Whether I will or not will be up to [insert diety of choice]! I liked the new track. Not that I've made a pass yet... but the folks were nice and all that jazz.

If I can stop the oil from gushing outta of my oil pan by that time, I'd like to attend.

"TONIGHT AT H M P - Governor's Cup Challenge -- DSA, Thursday, July 08, 08:37:23am [1]
It's Thursday, and tonight will be the Governor's Cup Challenge once again. As many of you know, Dr. Love has retained it for the past 3 weeks. Will he go down tonite? Can Nick "redlite" tha "P" get there. Can Bad Chad and his tar smokin' machine take it? Can the Webb Brother's step on up to the podium? Will there be a new challenger that has what it takes? The Cup is polished and ready for some action. Dr. Love says he ain't giving it up without a fight so bring your boxing gloves. lol
As long as those POMOFO and HALO guys don't show, the Doc has it sewn up. (he thinks) We will see.
Gates open at 6 p.m. for test n tune and the Governor's Cup may have a new home tonight."

I recently replaced the timing chain. I was suspicious of the gasket pieces they provide for sealing at the intersection of the pan, timing chain cover, and block (it's the area where you have to cut the oil pan gasket and replace it with the corner gasket pieces).
I didn't feel comfortable from the beginning about that entire process, so I gooped hell outta that area (at the intersection).
Other tidbit information left out. Long story made short, it needs a new pan gasket.
JB Weld?? Not a prob!

Usually I don't even like to think about missing these events. Unfortunately, with my vacation to SC in 2 weeks and hoping to be in a house within 2 months, I promised Guen I would hold off on my racing for a short while. What sucks is I will even miss this months CCW!!! How can I possibly defend my title if Guen keeps me away from the track  ?
Fear not. I have no doubt my fellow PMFR brotheren can hold down the fort in my brief absence.

ROFL!!!! Believe me, it certainly wasn't my first choice. I had enough of that state in the 3 1/3 years I lived there while in the AF. Unfortunately that is also where my son lives. Then again, Myrtle Beach isn't so bad this time of year.

The leak in my pan has subsided. I think it's just a
coincidence that my oil level gauge is bottomed out too.
I might go.
Anyone else?

Thanks all you PoMoFos for sticking around to share my victory at track masters. Who would have thought 5 and 6 second cars that have 13:1 to compression and lots of dope need more than 10 minutes to cool off between rounds?

I had a great time, what a nice track and great people to be around. Oh and the car almost did what it was supposed to do. On the first test and tune pass it went 6.98@100 so I put it away and didn't mess with anything till the first round. First round a draw a green monte carlo that sounds nasty! I pull up to the line and he does the narliest of burnouts, and with my slug with all the timing taken out of it I can barley get the tires to turn over without it lean poping on me. We pull to the line, stage and a tree him and never see him down the track, I let off and run a 7.03@94! Without a doubt this would have been the fastest car has ever ran if I would have stayed in it. Next round I was lucky enough to get the bye, and in the finals I raced a very nice yellow nova. I didn't get a decent burnout this time and he treed the shit out of me, and I spun bad off the line, as luck would have it when the Nova shifted into second the guy broke the shifter clean off the base and the car shifted into neutral. I went by him and ran like a 7.34 or something to win the 7.0 index and 100 bucks. In the top eliminator finals I draw the 5.50 car Jay Lovelady, do a nice burnout this time (bliping the nitrous to get the tires rolling) pull up to the line purge everything is fine. Launch the car and it can't get out of it's own way, suspected culprit is that the nitrous bottle is empty. I was happy to do as well as I did, and I can't wait till next month! Congradualtions to Chuck for winning the whole thing, Guff for winning the 9.0 class and to Joe, Cristina and Rick for making the final round in thier class....hell of a showing guys!

Congrats to all the winners of last night! :thumb:
My Story: In the finals of the 9.0 index, Guff cut a better light against me and ran a 9.008 and I broke out.
You know, if I would've cut a better light than Guff and I would've ran a 9.008, and Guffy cut a shittier light, and broke out, then I would've won! :D
It was cool that two PMFr's were the final two for the 9.0 brackets anyway.
Congrats again, guys and a special thumbs up to Chuck - practice pays off.

Congrats to those that won..............beer is on you guys next Fri! Cakes on me.......... :o

Thanks guys, for the kind words! I had a hell of a time. That event is alot of FUN. I actually got competitive in the finals and red lit. That was basically the only way I was going to have any chance of beating Chuck -- cutting a decent light. I managed a .27something, which was way off my 1.2s before. I actually got better during the event, cutting .7? or .8s? I think I'll ask for pro-tree everytime I T&T to get the hang of it.
My car did really, really well! I'm really shocked at how well that cheapy combo performs. I actually need to find a way to slow it down if I plan on using that block until the end of the year! Hah! The AOD held up nicely. Thanks to Guffy for coming out Friday night and helping Fred put the fugger in. We mega-appreciate it!
Congrats to all the winners! We had a nice turn out, had an awesome time. Great bunch of people to hang out with. :)
Congrats on winning it all Chuck! Hope to see you out there next event!
And Lee, if you go to www.pomoforacing.com -- we try to keep the 'we love us' stuff there. LOL. We try to update it as soon as we can every each event. :)
Edit: Oh yeah and we will be there next weekend for the CCW :)

I don't see the "I love me" section......
I might run the Sunday event. I need times and place and such and need to get my tires back from Carl (26" for 1/8 miles).
A big "I love me" section would be a tactful way of talking poo-poo.
Another thing, for anyone thats a computer-techno person, I have a couple of articals I want to pass on for the tech section here. I have (straight from the horses mouth) on synthetic oils. This artical talks about "What is a synthetic oil?"...."How are they classified"......"How they work"......and what the future is for them.
Its a great artical and I would take Q&A for those that had some. As for the people that know me, I push Royal Purple. After you read this artical I am talking about (published by Oil Lube and News bio-ed by ASE) then you would have a better understanding of why some oils (specificly synth.) are SO different from others.
There are many myths about this type of oil, many misunderstandings, and this artical will de-cloud peoples perception.
I need a volunteer to get this info and publish it here.............
One more thing (that has nothing to do with this thread) I have a 5 gas analy. State Inspect. machine. Not only can I test peoples cars to see if they are emmis. legal (ie last week) but it can be used as tuning tool to see how lean and rich a car may be.
I also use a Genisis computer to read codes (EECIV) real time. This computer can read O2 as you drive (in volts) to measure rich or lean, MAP, MAF, TPS, and so on.....AS YOU DRIVE! I suspect this is the BEST way to fine tune a piggy back computer system (ie PMS, PMS II, and a few others).
While I don't want a line of people doing this (otherwise we might have to charge and I would keep 2 employees here to do it) I could do it here and there for some radical set-ups with other than stk computers.
We'll talk about it next Fri............

The "I love me" section is the area on the front page with all of the congratualtory announcements to our members who have won races, been featured in magazines, etc etc. We seem to always have announcements on winning at FFW, CCW, Track Masters, magazine exposure, etc.
If the article on the oil is ok to be reproduced and published on this site (i.e. legal permission), then email it to me (use the email link here) and I'll work on getting it put up in the "tech articles" section of the site.
