Wulp. Started muh yob today.

It took me 10 minutes to finally get there in the morning rush hour! (4.7 miles from home).

During the lunch hour, I got a hair-cut, went to Quizno's, got a sammich, came home, ate it and was back at work (zactly one hour).

It took me 9 minutes in grueling traffic to get home.

I think I could get used to this job. :)

Where you workin' Rick? I need me a job close to the house. I'm glad that commute to downtown is over.

Any luck on the job front, Kyle? Is there anything out there?

Not much luck on a job. That's alright though. I have decided to start my own business and am working on another business venture. Decided to think outside the box. Right now I'm taking contracts for programming and building more off of one I just finished off. Things are looking up, it's just that I've decided to make them look up. Thanks for asking.

Congrats Rick. I'm jealous of the short drive time though :(.

Hee hee. I WISH!

They're lubing me up to go offshore to get some 'hands-on' sperience. I'm up to it (1st trip optta the US might be to Trinidad - 'hope! hope! hope! - or Egypt. :( )

The company mainly does cathodic protection for subsea installations: Christmas trees, BOP', Manifolds, Pipelines, MUX systems, Top-Side corrosion protection, etc. You know.

I work in the engineering department. Will be designing 'stuff' to remotely monitor subsea equipment and to install annodes via subsea ROV's.

What do I do ("we" 'stop rust' - see http://www.stoprust.com)

(me just saw today, a BUNCH of nice industrial-strength MIG welders, plasma cutter, heavy duty drill-presses, angle-iron and channels out the kazoo, car-trailers, and a whole lotta shit in the lab I gonna wanna borrow later).

That's cool Rick. When do you actually go off shore, and for how long?

Not sure just yet. This company (I feel) is one that will barge in the door and say "YOU GOTTA BE IN BUM-PHUCK IN 2 HOURS!"

I also gotta get a new passport (duh...can't find mine - it was about to expire anyway).

It was 'hinted' by the operations manager that I'd be going on some local jobs first (Houston, South LA, etc.,) first. Then start traveling on a broad - I mean traveling abroad - later on.

From my experience in the oil-patch, these trips can last a few days up to a few months.
