I need to replace my throw out bearing and I think I will get the Valeo brand from D&D Performance since it supposed to be alot better than the Ford.
Also I am thinking of upgrading the clutch while I am in there to the new designed Spec Stage3.
On another note: I was thinking of installing LT's. I am curious to know what gains you think I would see with it and also would my x pipe need cut to refit?

You'd definitely need a short style H pipe. Most vendors also offer the correct H pipe if they have LT's.
I have a Valeo and it's been ok, until my rear main started leaking :(.
SPEC rules :)

so my or/x pipe wont work with LT's even if it's shortened? Dang if I had known that I would have never gotten one.

Cut and refit it'll be fine, but being OR no exhaust shop will (legally) touch it...
Best bet is to mark where you think it needs to be cut, and carry just the OR pipe in. If they ask, it's for a '69 Fairlane (or make up your own favorite model...). It's risky, since you're in the equation, but about the only way they'll do it...

Hey Ken!
Got your e-mail late last night...I see these bastards finally got Road Runner up and going? LOL
Modifying the exhaust for long-tubes: Miller's over on Jacksboro Hwy will do it no questions asked. (But I didn't say that...LOL)
For what you use the car for, I would do a Stage II as opposed to the Stage III. The Stage III is like a light switch....it's either "on" or "off"....not much in-between... And, FWIW, most clutches come with a new throw-out bearing, so no need to buy a new one from Ford
As far as doing the job, I'm completely covered up for the next two weeks.....and then I'm off to Colorado for a month. I've heard through the grapevine that Tim is still unemployed and doing work on the side. It would mean a drive to Grandfield, OK (just over the state line north of Burk), but I would trust it was in good hands. As far as local shops, I'm not sure which ones would do you with lube and which ones would do you dry...LOL
If you want, I can try and get a phone number for Tim if you don't have it handy...
Lemee know if I can help...

If you can get a hold of Tim and give him my number it would be great. I have been calling his cell phone but it may be disconnected because I never get an answer.

FWIW- The spec clutch comes with a TOB that is identicle to Fords so I am told. Thats why I was going to get the valeo brand. Thanks for the advice- I will look at the stage2.

I have a SPEC clutch/press plate/flywheel sitting on the floor, I'll take a look, if I can remember, and see what brand the TOB is.

I looked but there is no markings on the bearing other than some numbers "BCA 614014" on the inner side of the 'race' part.
The pressure plate is a Valeo. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

That is a bca bearing then.
Also Valeo doesn't guarentee quality they make clutches for anybody who pays them you have to trust the company that you are buying from is specing them out good.

Interesting, though I think I've heard ONE bad comment about SPEC clutches, and I personally feel it was that one person not breaking it in right or something. I did a couple months of research and SPEC had the highest quality and best price.

I am not saying SPEC is a bad clutch I have never used them I am just saying valeo does not mean quality they build it to whatever the spec's are that are given to them if SPEC spec are good then those valeo will be good ...the ones that autozone is buying now are made by valeo as well but they are junk. I personally after having bad expierences with several manufacturers either use RAM (custom from the factory for new race stuff) or take my pressure plate and disk to a place here in houston called heigthman's they will rebond with just about any compound you can afford and some you can't afford... and will rebuild the pressure plate as well with whatever springrate you wnat within the limits of the pressure plate. They make great streat/strip clutches..They also do brakes hint I haven't had to pay HAWK or PAGID prices for race pads for years.

Brakes, huh? Damn.
How much do they run for a pad comparable to a Hawk HPS?

When I said Valeo, I meant I was going with the Valeo TOB not the clutch.
I think I will just put a KingCobra on it since I don't run slicks and am not going to be over 425HP.
Thanks for the input.

Wipeout: you can get a stage one SPEC that's good to ~400hp, i think. I haven't been too pleased with the KC, myself.
