This coming Sunday (May 16) is this months Houston area CCW. Gates "should" be opening at noon. I will have to check to see if we will actually be racing before 2 p.m. Come one come all!!!

Shit, nothing like a last minute notice. Do they not have the date set for the rest of the year, like Sealy does?
If they DO, can you be so kind as to add the dates to the PoMoFo Calendar?
I'd like to make it, but at this point, being notified so late, Im not sure. Will have to play it by ear.

I think it's the third Sunday of every month. So it's sorta set :)

I'll be in Nashville this weekend...I've been to one of the CCW's this year, but I will do my best to make next month's event.

Regards,
Like Cris said, its scheduled for every third Sunday. The only time it will change is if they have some big event they wish to hold that that day. CCW's will always be the bastard step child. :crying:
Sorry, I should have posted this sooner.

I know I'm gonna get reamed for this, and it's painfully obvious, but here goes.
Who were the people who said that because of HMP and their
Car Club Wars, that they were going to go there instead of Sealy?
(rhetorical question - read the supporting posts).
PoMoFo's at Sealy's CCB are history. Is the CCW an event that is
next on the PoMoFoNo-Show list?
What happened to all the excitement, guys?
Where's the love, man. Where's the love. :(

A clever come-back (as expected from you Buggy :p) but nonetheless, saddening.
I give up.

Jesus Rick, don't kick someone when they are down or anything. As you know my car is still down, but should be up in a week or two. Family comes way before racing in my book, and my brother has a special once in a lifetime event (graduation) in Nashville and I'm not going to miss it.
I know your post wasn't aimed at me, I will frequent CCW's and other events but like Cris said there is more to life than racing.
My $.02.

I never said I wouldn't be there, but I did say I have to play it by ear, considering it's sort of "last minute" notice for me. Since Cristina and I ONLY see each other on the weekends, our weekend time tends to get planned 2-3 weeks ahead of time. If I had known when CCW was a week ago, Im sure my answer would have been a "I'm for sure gonna be there". As it is, I am not positive, as we have other crap planned for that day at the moment. If things get done earlier, or plans fall through, then I will be there. If not, oh well.
This is why the CCW sched. should be posted on the calendar. Some people actually use it to know which races are coming up and what they need to plan for, hehe.
"IF" I come, it won't be b/c I feel guilty about not showing. When I said I wouldn't go to Sealy anymore due to HMP having CCW's, that wasn't a promise to make every last one. Hell, I don't help out in brackets anyways. Up to this point, I've only missed one (first one), so I don't need a lecture on non-support for a trophy bracket race, haha.
Lastly, if I show, it'll be in the 96, as the coupe doesn't even have tires to race on at the moment.

Rick, my own opinion is that I like to race the events that I actually have a chance at making my money back. I know none of us are into racing for the money, but when I can go race for free and even make a little coin back, it always justifies it more to the wifey. Since I took 1st at the last King Of The Strip race, I get free entry into the next one which happens to be this weekend. You know that I can only make one event a weekend (unless the wife is out of town LOL). So I'll be at KOTS on Saturday shooting for another win or runner up placement!

Brent, you are correct. I did NOT intend this to be directed towards you and now I see I should've clarified that.
As far as "Family comes before racing" goes, you know I agree (I've said that many times myself). And good luck with your Coupe. I know you can't wait to get it back and I can't wait to see you go down the track and get your new p.b.!
I guess I'm just disappointed in the timing of all the (uncontrollable) events.
I miss the comaraderie that was once much more active (monthly get-togethers).

I suppose the fact that you didn't know when it was reguarly scheduled is an indicator that it might not be that important to you (again, I understand you have priorities - it's just a matter of fact).

Heathern! (j/k) It goes back to the comments of hanging out with friends (although I realize I'm walking a thin line now  ). It doesn't matter that it's just for a trophy, does it? (I won't pull the FFW "Hanging out with friends is more important" card - of which I agree with).
Either way, I hope you guys can make it. Always a pleasure.

Best o' luck to all in whatever event or other happening you chose to attend.

I wanna go race especially since I haven't made a pass down the track since BEFORE FFW! (grr!) If the weather doesn't co-operate then there is the next Clobberthon on the 22nd where I have to smack Rex around. :)
My main goal right now is to get some quality TnT in BEFORE the next COTT race (Memorial Day Weekend in San Antonio). Plus I'll need to save up some cash just to afford the gas to tow that far at single digit gas mileage!
PS - Hold me Ricky, the lightning skeeers me.

Gates open at 1:00 for the rest of the year, (I hope). Racing at 3:00, (I hope). I will do my best to hold that schedule and to have everyone at the track ready for us to race at 3:00PM. No more starter controled lights, we will be computer started on a fixed light timing. No I do not know the settings, but did ask Mark in the tower to keep it consistent and he said it will be a fixed time for the rest of the year.
Hope to see you guys there as usual.

Andre... courtesy staging should be in effect. I know it wasn't at the last CCW. Just something that irks me, even though it doesn't really affect me, since I suck anyways, lol.

The Clash has an auto-start for their True Street class. It's 7 seconds I believe. From the second ONE of the drivers fully stages (double bulb) the other driver has 7 seconds to go from pre-stage to stage before the tree comes down. Of course that implies courtesy staging. Hopefully that's the kind of auto-start HMP will be using on us. Even if there isn't a courtesty stage, you can always ask to have the "starter" (or in this case the person standing where the starter would be) back the opponent out and enforce a courtesty stage.
Rick - That group hug pic is just WRONG! I'll see you at the CCW so I can smack you around for not only posting that pic, but taking the time to SEARCH for it! :)

Ben, I did that last month. Two rounds in a row someone double bulbed before I lit even one, and both times I sat there, waving for the starter (lovelady) to back them up. Both times he shook his head no and waved me to stage.
Hence my post, grr.

Courtesy Staging is in effect and if they don't back them out, refuse to stage and I will take it from there. 7 seconds is a life time, the Clash I ran was more like 1.3 seconds by the watch after staging. 7 seconds to stage 2nd is about right. But I think thats what you just said. Opps!
Auto Start and Courtesy Staging is in effect.

A WIN light (for the racers) after the 1/8th would be nice also.
Sometimes the race is so close, I don't know for sure whether or
not to ram the other guy when he's in the middle of the turn-off.
....so I go with the odds and try to T-Bone him anyway.

I'll show you endless coolers of beer
You'll think I'm such a Dear
And I might even give you a friendly "Cheers!"
Don't mind the children,
They'll be going down soon
Yipee! It's that time, cause I see the moon.

My Guen is coming along also. This is one of the few Car Club events in which shee hasn't had to work. Not sure if she will be attempting to bracket the truck yet. However, I am gonna let he try out the beast and make a couple of TnT passes in it.

New Starting / Staging Rules and Pairing Procedure:
Pairing:
Lanes will be pulled via a card system. Each Lane has a Left and a Right Card for lane assignments. The Stager will pull cards till two clubs of a different group are pulled to race. There is also one bye card. The bye card will be used in odd number cases and will always go to the right of the last card pulled.
EXAMPLE: We have 15 cars in the lanes. I pull 3R 1st then a bye card. The bye run for that round will go to the car in the front of lane 2.
The cards system was designed to remove any ideas of matching racers. All rounds will use this system.
If the Bye card is pulled 1st for any odd numbered car round it will go back into the deck.
Staging:
We will use courtesy staging for all passes, Time Trials, Elim, Consol, PP, and Pres Race.
Starting:
The Tree will be computer controlled, no more manual starter.
