Okay fellers, I have a serious case of the "Don't want to mess with its". How much of a pain in the butt is swapping out the power steering rack on a fox body. I actually called around to price having someone do it. How much time would I be looking at to do this? I've never done one before, but it doesn't seem too hard, I just can't get motivated.
The car is puking PS fluid like crazy. My wife drives the car daily and literally has to refill the PS reservoir every morning. Over the course of 24 hours it loses all of the fluid. It looks to be coming out of the boots. I'm just sick of it, so I need to get it fixed soon.
Any thoughts or how to articles.
BTW I was quoted $360 and that made me want to puke.

Amazingly enough I just saw that and I'm still unmotivated. I think I'll end up giving it a shot next weekend. I got down here this weekend and realized I moved all my tools a couple weeks ago.
It has now become the lesser of two evils. Pay $400 and have someone do it or do it myself and save nearly 3/4 of that money.

Kyle,
It was not too bad when I did mine. For me, the hardest part was the steering coupling, getting it back on far enough onto the splines so I could tighten it down and get the wheel straight. Someone with your experience could probably do it in an afternoon easily. It is basically 5 bolts, knock off the tie rods, pry the rack off the K and the shaft off the splines, and remove the lines. Wth Garrett helping, 2-3 hours? :D But probably on the lower end. I think I pulled mine in 30 min or so, but the front was already up in the air and wheels were off.
Wish I could help, but I'm at work almost all weekend! :(
They will probably have to order it, so buy it early in the day, they might have one locally. Be sure to get the sport steering one.
I have been meaning to set up the WSM discount at the Jersey Village Oreillys, but just have not had the info with me. Might be worth an extra $10 savings!

Kyle,
If you need tools, I have them, and jack and stands, and everything. No need to go too far for them.
LMK!
