Hmm, I wonder what bell <s>os</s> is on that C4?

Okay Fellers,

You can tell ME WTF I have.

From what I was told, this is an 'early' C4 (location of oil fill hole is supposed to be clue???).

Small bellhousing added later(~68 Mustang 200 T). The Maverick's firewall is NOT bellhousing friendly (which will be a pita when I go AOD - but that's another story).

The shitty camera with shitty lighting gave shitty results.

The bell housing is about 5-1/2" deep (face to inside face of hsg itself).

more photos to come tomorrow (if needed, too sleepy now ZZZzzzzzzzz...)

(lol at '64 Rambler - my friend had a Rambler Station Wagon ("Rambling Rose" we called her). We put mud-grips on it and a cut-out on the exhuast - used it for deer hunting and mud-hoggin'. crazy hooligans!)

Rick,

Looks just like my tranny. Without measuring, it's too hard to tell in the picture. The design of the tranny tells me that it is not an early model c4. The earlier designs had the bolts for the pump and bellhousing together, meaning they served the purpose of holding the pump and bellhousing on. If you look at yours, the bellhousing is held on with it's own bolts. My guess would be a 70 or later c4.

As far as the flexplate, I'll buy it if it hasn't been sold yet. Consider it sold. We'll work out the details later on shipping and I'll send you a check.

Not sure which car you're referring to.

This wasn't the one in my vert. It had an AOD (converted to 'manual E' - rocker switch to lock out OD - nitrous bad for OD's top gear).

This is the one that came with the Maverick rolling chassis. It is NOT the original tranny that came in the car however.

This is one of MANY items I'm having to edentify and deal with.

Ahh...the 'challenges' I get myself into! :)

Still searching history of C4's to help (along with your guys) determine exactly wtf this is.

Thanks!

Rick,

Thanks to Cox internet changing of there service, my email address that was listed here no longer exists. I have updated it and you will problably have to send it to me again.

As far as the flexplate, the 164 tooth flexplate only fits the 11 -7/16 bolt pattern. The 157 tooth flexplate is a 10.5 bolt pattern. I have yet to ever see this to be any different. I have a 74 (I think) c4 in my car and have an earlier model torn apart sitting in my garage. The tranny in the pic looks identical to mine and everyone I've ever seen that was post 1970. The only difference is based on whether it's a pan or case fill. As far as I know, both of these options were available on the c4's in the later models, so that cannot be used to determine what year it is..

That C4 looks exactly like the one I have sitting in the garage except for the bellhousing. I have an ultrasmall bell on mine and its out of a 74 mustang II I beleive.

Rick, aren't you near 529 and Barker-Cypress?? If so, I am right down the street from you. I have a couple of flexplates laying around. I'd be more than happy to drop by and bring them with me. Also, I have a belhousing that will accomodate either the 157 or 164 tooth flexplate. I can take some dimensions from it or even bring it with me to determine what you have. Let me know.

<font color=red>Yes (as implied in Ad Title "For Sale or trade "Scat" SB Ford SFI Approved Flexplate" and shown on box pic in same Ad "P/N FP-302L-SFI" :P ). The SFI sticker reads "This Manufacturer Certifies That This Product Meets SFI Spec 29.1. I assume there is a serial number (?) of “A 348108” on the sticker as well.</font>

<font color=red>??? What was THAT for ??? (I'm a lover - not fighter - and not real good at either one!)

I guess I can sell it for half of what I paid for it??

I gave a $10.00 discount off my invoice cost (of $60.00) not to mention shipping cost of $7 (totaling $67.00).

If the part sells for $32 and $36 on the website, and I give the $10.00 discount, should I only ask $22 or $26 for it even though I paid $60 (have receipt - will post if requested - scanner doesn't work right now - can't sell any parts to have enough money to buy new one. :( I thought I had this item sold but then somebody comes along behind me and directs the buyer to a website where he can get the same item cheaper. http://users3.ev1.net/~rickbook/smilees/pokingshitsmilee.gif</font> :p :D

Hmm, as Chuck asked oni WSM, is that for an AOD or C4? You might have to measure the fastener CL and double check (I have a C4 converter out at home I could measure...)

Chris,

I have no idea what app - that's why I didn't try to imply any application in ad. I don't know enough (I could stop right there) about this stuff to even ATTEMPT to tell someone what it will fit.

From the what it's worth department, after reading this post, I put the plate over one of my AOD converters and it fits it perfectly (4 holes @ .445" dia. on a 11-1/2" B.C.). I do not deny or confirm that this plate fits ONLY an AOD - I simply do not know.

Thanks for taking the measurements on the C4 you have. It'll help me determine which plate I need.

Speaking of 'converters at home': I need a 2800-3200 C4 converter (and matching flex plate).

1) Do you have one for sale?
2) If so, whatcha got (brand, stall, spline count, mileage, history of usage, etc.,)
3) Can I get it cheaper on another site? :D (okay, "truce")
4) I also need the 157 tooth flexplate. Neutral-balanced or not.
5) Can you neutral-balance a flexplate in your garage?
6) How much to do that?
7) Can I get it neutral-balanced cheaper on another web site? :D:D (okay, really, 'truce')

Thanks,

I love ya, Man.

Please, kids who are witnessing this 'fued' between Chris and I.

Do not do this in your own homes (go to some body ELSES home and do it). Chris and I are lovers and we give each other 'love-taps' every now and then to keep our relation from getting boring.
------------------

My Dearest Darling Chris,

Would you, by chance have a heck-darn of a good deal on a slightly used, over-abused converter in the 2800-3200 range that would fit in a SMALL 'bell' C4 (I won't budge on that one - my 'bell' is small - just ask my wife)?

If so, please allow me the opportunity to purchase it from you (translated "DIBS!").

Thank you for your kindness, your generosity and most of all, stacking my crap at your house.

Until we meet again,

4 Ever Yours to bend, fold, or mutilate,
