I think the hardest part of this swap is going to be the shifter assembly and the pedal assembly. I may run into a few problems with the transmission crossmember but those can be fixed with a grinder and a welder. The pedal shouldn't be that big of a deal if you get one from a ranger with a standard transmission. The shifter though may take some work because on where the shifter mount on the transmission is in relation to the floorpan of the truck. A stock or aftermarket T5 shifter is likely to be too short for you to reach in the seat so I'd plan of fabricating a long shifter handle. You ought to be able to do the swap with very little money out of pocket. Just post that your willing to trade your C4 for a T5 setup and someone, somewhere ought to jump on it. Is that C4 in your truck stock or do you have a convertor behind it or anything? If Rangers came with a T5 from the factory then it shouldn't be difficult at all to find a parts truck in the local yards and swap everything over. I have no idea if they came with T5's though.

Good Luck!

As a self-appointed Ford AOD advocate, why in the world wild web would you wanna go from auto to T-5?

Now, if you were going to an AOD(E), I'd understand.

Let me guess...you 'like' to shift - in Houston traffic (if this is your main form of transportation)?

And yes, I understand 'to each his own'.

Just curious.

(btw - I may have an interested party for the sale of your truck (it has to be automatic), check pm).

Rick to each his own, but I must say that swapping the AOD out of the convertible and going to a T5 was the single best thing I ever did to the car. It actually made the car fun to drive and I have never regreted it. I went through 3 AOD's so you might say I have opinion against theAOD, but the manual made the car much more more enjoyable. I won't have another AOD in anything I drive to save my life, which is why I'm going to a C4 in the coupe, but hey thats just me...BTW anyone wanna buy the AOD thats sitting on the garage floor right now? :D

Also, Mo has a C4, with no overdrive, such as an AOD or a T5 has. Has an impact on gas mileage.

And, since I dont bracket race, and it would cost MORE for me to get a built aod, convertor, shaft, and vb, I decided to stick with finding a used Tremec setup. Cost is the issue with a lot of AOD v 5spd debates.

If money was no issue, I'd have a Lentech AOD and be done with it.

IMHO, the 'single best thing' you ever did to your vert was allow a fellow PoMoFo to mount "throttle-in-a-bottle" in your trunk! :D

/me sees blue vert going down track, nose up, nose dive, nose up, nose dive, nose up, nose dive, nose up........:D

/me also see's his Maverick on blocks :( /me will get off pedestal now and kick the neighbor's dog

well it already has a pedal...it used to be a stick & no one ever took the pedal out lol... but it already has a b&m hammer shifter also...i think the had to do sumthin for that...but its just a question...i mean the c4's still under warranty so i guess it would be pretty stupid...theres so stall or anything...it does have a stage 3 shift kit thou
