Just in from the races. I raced last night and came home this morning. It is a nice and very well ran program and I had a blast. Freddy does a great job making it all happen.
I left Sat AM and meet up with Doug and we got to the track about 12. I unloaded the car and they where calling open time trials from 1-4 so I thought I'd go ahead and see what the car would do being the first time out on 28x12.5 Et streets. The car ran 11.2, 11.3 and 11.4 all at 119 in time trails in the 100 degree heat. At the Clash it's index racing heads up on a pro tree, but even though I had PRO TREE writen on my windows during time trials I only got a sportsman tree so I didn't get a chance to practice on the lights.
We had the drivers meeting at 7:30 and had the cars lined up 8. The cruise was about 15 miles of driving on the I10 feeder. Then we got to sit, and I mean sit. They called a bunch of classes before true street. I'm not sure but I bet it was 10:30 when then finally put us on the return road. There where 10 cars in the 11 second class index. First round I'm up agianst the only RX7 at the hole track! I cut a .509 light to his .790 and never even saw him so I let off the nitrous at the 1000' mark and crossed the traps at a 11.19 @ 116 mph! That may have been my ten seond pass but we will never know...I had the best 60' of the weekend on that pass though, 1.60. The car doesn't get out of the hole as quick with the big tire but I'm not giving up yet.
Second round I'm up agains a copper colored LS1 with stage 3 MTI heads MTI cam and shot of gas. He got me at the tree his .5 to my .7 and won by about 3 carlengths. I ran a 11.39@119 to his 11.21. This car ended up winning the 11 second class.
Doug won first round but lost in the second in the 14 second index, Ben went out after the first round but all in all I think it was a good weekend for Ben! I'm sure he didn't regret going and as always it's a blast with him and Liz around. I'm sure he will fill us in.
It was a great time, I saw Dan Millen run a 7.17 @ 200 and Bart Brand run a 7.28 @ 195. I'll be at the other clash events if I can afford it.
Next up FFW Ennis in 3 weeks! Time to get busy working on the appearance of the car a little bit...
