Sorry dude, wish I could've made it. I plan to go Wednesday though. I got the car fired up today! woo hoo!
I need to get another serpentine belt as my tensioner is now bottomed out. I want to bypass the smog, but I'm not sure about it as there won't be a lot of clearance between the top and bottom belts at the tensioner, so I'm leary. Either way its running and I drove and got gas, all be it with the alternator not charging hardly at all. Thats why I think my belt is slipping, I get like 9 amps on the alternator, even revving up. I've got to get the belt, put the hood on, wash all the greese off of it and drive it to work on Tuesday to get a few miles.

Just don't line up with me Chuck...maybe we can miss each other the first few rounds :). I need tires or an automatic so I get better reaction times...that Pro Tree is killer for me.

Carl,
Are you still routing it basically the stock way? I did it when my smog pump went out and you are right, the belts did rub going to the alternator. But when I bypassed the PS pump and the smog pump and routed it like the diagram I sent to you (swap the order of the crank and water pump), it worked great. May just need to play with the belt routing.

Yes, I'm routing the stock way. I just went back and looked at that diagram with it going directly from the alternator down to the crank as opposed to crank to PS and wp, wp to alternator, alt to ps.
Instead that diagram shows alt to crank, crank to wp, wp to ps, ps to alt, then back to crank.
I wonder what the difference in length will be though.
That diagram shows a 70.5" belt, but my main pulley is only the diameter of a coke can and I have the PS pump moved up where the a/c used to be.
66" belt should be almost perfect for the setup I was trying to do, I wonder if the 67" will fit if I go with that 2nd setup without rubbing.
The damn 67" belt was just barely to long which made the two rub at the tensioner and the 65.3" was too short to reach the alternator with no tensioner on it. Thats where I come out with the 66".
It looks like Autozone has a 66" belt, but its like $4 more than I was paying at Oreilly's.
Oh BTW, I setup the Westside Mustangs master installer discount at the Oreilly's on Decker Dr in Baytown. Some parts you save nothing on, but on the belt I saved $10!
Belt was $29 before, $18 after the discount Woohoo!
