Unfortunately, this starts with a sad, sad story...
On the way to the track, I noticed that my water gauge was stuck at 100, I glanced at my transmission gauge, same thing. 'Hmm'. So I called Fred and let him know, he asked how the car was running, I said a-ok, no smoke, no weirdness... so he was like, okay, that's fine. Great I thought. When I GOT to the track, my car was SIZZLIN'. Well, from the fuse panel, we have one wire going to a power distribution block, which the gauges run off... and so does the DAMN FAN! Apparently, I must of kicked it when getting in the car, and it caused the wire from the fuse box to come undone from the distribution block! Dude, what a horrible way to start off!
The sizzling was coming from the bypass hose from waterneck to waterpump. It came loose, apparently from pressure or something. During this hole time, all I could think of was "Crap, I married into the Bingham curse, I've fucking blown a head gasket or something worse.". Luckily, we tightened the bypass hose and put water in the radiator (saw no bubbles), let it run and idle for a bit, it stayed at a 180 the entire time... we were a little more at ease.
Enough of the tragedy, the reason we went to the track was to see how she'd do with the changes: 4.10s to 3.73s, 90/10 drag struts, removal of front sway bar and a different valve body. My previous best was a 12.2@108 with a 1.65 60'. I started off the night with a 12.160@110 and a 1.71 60'. That was pretty cool. I went a few more times, running a 12.1 or a 12.3. My last pass of the evening, I let it cool down for a bit and Fred turned my fan off after my burnout... she went a 11.9@111 with a 1.65 60'. That rocked!! I was totally happy. I think the lady that hands out the time slips got the whole 'happy' from me too. As soon as I pulled up next to her, she looked at me and said 'You're going to have to wear your fire jacket." LOL! I was like, you're kidding ME!? That was cool.
Anyway, we wrapped it up after that due to icky clouds 'n stuff. It was a rain out! So next time I go to the track freeeeeeeeeeeee... :D :)
It was good to see Dougstang out there too, I LOVE that car. Robert_B was there as well with 'one of the' Kevins. I also met some new folks!
Had a blast - can't wait to do it again.
/me sees a new blower pulley in her future...
