Dunno how many of you heard about this (http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/metropolitan/1457278) story taken from the Chronicle, Metrolpolitan section, 6/17/02.
I'm pretty sure this is the area known as "Brittmoore", which is located off of West Little York, between the Beltway and Brittmore.
Some snippets:
"Maybe we'll deter them from going somewhere else," said Capt. Steve Smith of the major offenders unit, who added that racing movies such as The Fast and the Furious are fueling the popularity of street racing.
 I don't think so. That spot has been happening for years. Only lately has it been plaqued with imports, which is just the current trend. There's a good share of Mustangs and Fbodies out there too.
They noticed that after midnight, racers seemed to know that the lot at 7100 Business Park Drive, which is surrounded by warehouses and has close access to Hempstead Highway, was the place to gather.
Officials said the racing was too organized to be random, with an intricate system of communicating by walkie-talkie and betting on races.
After midnight? Heh...a lot of times it's happening around 10pm! About 7 or so years ago it used to hit pretty good on Sunday afternoons..until they started building up around there.
Organized? Not really..just some smart people. It's like knowing where the good clubs are at...by word of mouth. Wonder what they have to say about the wrecker drivers who come out there and listen to their radios for the cops?
However, officials are trying to arrange a place for racers to go where they can be on private property and not public streets.
Now this caught my attention. I wonder what they are referring too? For some people, the track is too far away. Are they helping build one closer than Sealy or Baytown? That area is smack dab in between both tracks, so I doubt they would be building one that's any closer.
There will always be street racing though. It's the thrill of it that draws them.
