Well, 2 months after graduating with honors, I'm still looking for employment in my field of study. I've had two interviews so far and both companies claimed they wanted me right after the interview. One company then decided to change their mind, and never returned any of my calls/emails, and the other one hired someone else b/c they wouldn't have to pay a recruiter any hiring fees (I had got the interview through a recruiter, grr).

I graduated in May 2003 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology, and would LIKE something within that discipline. I know I could work at Lowes or something (and this will be an option if nothing changes soon), but I'd rather work in the field that I went into mucho debt getting my degree in. The problem is, most people out there want years of experience and I don't have that. I only have schooling. I do know the design process and strengths of materials and such. I am proficient with Inventor and AutoCad as well.

If anyone knows of something, please let me know. I can PM you a link to a copy of my resume to pass along.

My savings are pretty much dried up so I've got to come up with SOMETHING soon. In the meantime, looks like I'll be buying material and making more SFC's next week to help get me by.

P.S. - If anyone is going to recommend a recruiter, please make sure I'm not going to be wasting my time. I've contacted and met with a few, only to have them NEVER call me back or follow up on what they claimed they were going to do. I don't have the time or money (gas) to waste on them if they aren't going to get anything done.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Brett

Any postings for jobs on that site that are relevant to me have this in the description

DEGREES IN ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY ARE NOT QUALIFYING DEGREES.

So much for that.

Btw, do ANY jobs hire directly anymore? Everytime I send something directly to a company, I never hear back.

My personal experience is to get on direct immediately you have to know somebody. I have gotten jobs through recruiter before and in the past The first thing I did every morning was call the recruiters that had my resume then I would go out looking at other places after talking to them on the phone. I have never even seen the recruiters office of 95% of the recruiters I have used. All that being said I know a couple of people I can ask send me a current resume and i will pass it along.
