The "Sprint" versions of 1972 Mavericks, Pintos and, yes, Mustangs consisted of a special exterior paint scheme and 'special' seats. No other upgrades like hp increase or sport suspension were added (that I'm aware of) to any of the cars, just the paint and seats.
I remember everything 'American' was selling like hot-cakes in '72-'76 (upcoming bi-centinial) so Ford marketers decided to offer the Sprint with a little "Go America" theme to sell a few cars. BTW, these cars are VERY rare now.
"And now a note from our sponsor"..... a few ads from 'back then' (Chris 'may' remember these cars - I'll let him lie about that.

All together now.......
"I'd like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony....." (what? you don't remember that song?!)

How's this for a nice resto job in progress? Pic taken 2 weeks ago by an aquantence (and owner of this car) from www.maverick.to).
