Awesome!

That's great man. I have been seriously contemplating taking the same path lately. The only problem is everytime I mention that I have a degree in computer science they immediately want to stick me at a computer. I've been looking into following in my dad's footsteps and joining the Corp or straying and going to the AF.

I hope you enjoy it. I've never met anyone that regretted being in the military.

Shawn,

As I mentioned to you on the phone, you have all the PMFR'ers admiration, respect and well wishes - along with lots of other American Citizens who enjoy their way of life too.

Learn lots and be safe,

Well as a former Marine all I can say is goodluck and make the most of it. Dont listen to the guys who say it sucks and they made the biggest mistake of their lifetime in their. Defintly take the time and form your own opinion. I will tell you this it was one of the most unigue experiences I ever had. Going in open contract is a little risky, but with your scores you most likely wont be a cook;) . Well if you have any questions about what to expect or just anything at all you can PM me. I had experience working with pretty much everybody while I was in. I was deployed over seas, worked with the air wing, and got to work with every branch of the service so like I said any questions at all just send them this way.

thanks for the awesome reply's everyone.... the more and more i hear good, suportive thoughts like that, the more i feel like im doin the right thing. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!:D

after i posted last, i called up a few of my buds that are currently in the marines, and they told me some of the pros and cons of differant jobs, and they said that there are much better jobs to be had than aviation mechanic and light wheel mechanic. so ive given it some more thought, and kicked around a few ideas..... and i think that im probobly going to try ta get on with the enlisted air crew. from what i understand its a fast paced job, with fast promotions, and you get to see the world. the few people that i have talked to about it have said that the air wing is a bad ass crew to be with.... i believe they said "its like a brotherhood within a brotherhood". we'll see i guess. i go back to the recruiter tomarro to get some more stuff ironed out, so we'll see what happens.

jenn: hell yea girl.... im down fer gettin plastered before i jet.:D hehehe.

As another former Marine, go with pride, and don't let the feather merchants (shitbirds) ruin the high. With your scores, I just can't see them giving you an open contract, I got to write my own ticket on both enlistments.
I spent more than half of my time overseas between the 3 primary MOSs that I had and enjoyed most of it. I have one accomplishment that most can never make, I have gotten laid on 6 of the seven continents:D !(Need to find willing woman and make trip to Antartica)
A little heads up, don't let the DIs get to you, it's over soon enough, and only the tough will survive. When you look back you will be amazed at how far you have come in 13 weeks, or how ever long the deal is now with the crucible. A lot of your friends won't recognize you when you get back from boot.
I thought I was pretty smart and knew everything when I went in, but I did a ton of growing up over the first 2 years.
