Hey Guys. Ill be motoring into town tomorrow. On our way to the track Friday, we are picking up a buddy in Kingwood. I was wondering what would be the quickest route to take from Conroe? I noticed there are two roads (1314 and 1485) that go from Conroe to 59 just north of Kingwood. Is one of those better than the other (better condition, less lights)? Would taking one of those roads be quicker than say…45 to 1960 then backtrack on 59 to Kingwood? It would be nice to just skip all the mess on 45 through spring. FWIW, we should be coming in through that area at about 7pm. Any suggestions?

Trevor, you have a couple options.
1314 is a 2-lane road the entire way and with the exception of late the afternoon (4-6pm), it moves pretty well. You can exit Loop 336 on the SOUTH side of Conroe, head east and catch 1314 right there. That will bring you through Porter and hit 59 two exits north of Kingwood Dr.
Or, you can exit 242 (College Park Dr) in the Woodlands, head east and catch 1314 there.
At 7pm at night, 1314 should be your quickest and most direct route. I'm building a home out in Kingwood now, so I'm out there all the time...:)
1960 is still under construction and can be a bear. 59 north of 1960 is also under construction and will likely be a PITA trying to head northbound.
I've never taken 1485 before, so maybe someone else can comment on that. Although, if memory serves, that runs you into New caney andtakes you a little bit out of the way.
Depending on where you are in Kingwood, you can take West Lake Houston Pkwy all the way to Beltway 8 or head accross the lake on 1960 and take the route that Brent normally does.
Have a safe trip and see ya at the track!

I'd say the best way is 242 to 1314 to Kingwood. Then to get to the track take Lake Houston Parkway out of Kingwood to 1960 and take it over the lake to the second light which is FM2100. Take 2100 South through Crosby and then right after you pass Highway 90 take a left on FM1942, run 1942 all the way to 146 and turn south through Mt. Belview then past I10 for about 3-4 miles to the turn off for the track (not sure of the name but its marked). Turn left, (if you get to the Limelight club you 've gone too far) and run it to the stop sign at the Chevron station and turn left again and you'll see the track.
Cya there!

Awesome guys thanks. Well as it turns out, we will not have to pick that guy up. So now my question is, should I maybe take that route anyways? I know 45 is a bitch through spring so I might be better taking the above route.

I agree. Traffic by that time shouldn't be very bad since you will be going against the traffic for the most part.

Im staying with said buddy in Kingwood. Though being passed out on some hotel floor or in the parking lot at HRP might be a possibility too.
