As many programmers, site owners, admins, etc., that frequent here, it'd be nice to receive a little more 'personal' attention to our (okay "my") PC questions/problems.

Besides, the geeks love challenges! And, as an added bonus, they get to make fun us retardz. ;)

Ex: Right now, I can't visit a few wwwS. sites for whatever reason. I've lowered my security settings to the lowest, I've enabled all java shtuff, I've disabled my firewall, I've closed NoAds - everything except Explorer!

All I get is the error "Page cannot be displayed b.s." when I try loggin onto secure sites (ex: Paypal.com right now. A guy is waiting for me to send him money and I can't get on the site!)

I've gone through all the fundamental b.s. with the 'helpless' desk and been put on hold so long I've hung up and keep trying something different myself.

FWIW, This started when I went from EV1 to RR (not saying it has anything to do with it...just stating the facts)

Anyone? Class? Anyone?

The site could also have links to helpful programs and other information.

Thanks,

Rick

You having pr0n withdrawls already????

Actually what you described sounds like some my machine at work has been doing lately.... all i have to do there to make it work right is ctrl-f5 and it does a complete reload and usually works fine from there on out. Have you done all the latest windows updates? and checked your ad-watch settings to make sure that none of that is blocking you?

Try emptying your internet cache. Should be under Tools>Internet Options, then click on the Delete Files button. See if that works.

Make sure you change all your settings back to what you had them before. You don't want your security TOO low.

'Tried that Rusty, along with setting the security to "Format C:/"

Problem was:

"Cipher Strength: 0- bit"

Click on IE Help, About Internet Explorer - see Cipher Strength.

Mine now reads 128-bit after I went through this process (per RR help desk)

1) http://www.support.microsoft.com/
2) Click on "Download Software"
3) Click on "Internet Explorer"
4) Click on "Download Now"
5) Select Language - "GO"
6) Click on "Download IE 6 Service Pak 1"

Follow instructions.

Dont' ask me why or how.

All I know is it worked for me.

(now I can go to secure sites without error)

Rick,

As I tell my mom when she calls me with a computer problem, "I'm sorry, I'm off the clock, I can't help you." :D

My problem is that I get pissed off at my computers too much and just reformat the hard drives and re-load and upgrade at the same time. It's kinda like taking a dump. Every now and then you gotta take that huge one that burns and makes you sweat, but after all is said and done, you really feel better. :D
