View Full Version : Porting heads

Ok I was thinking of having my Holley Systemax heads ported and o-ringed (stage 2 I guess) and was wondering if it would be better to just sell them and buy some other kind already done. I am planning on putting in my 351 in about 2 months and would like to have everything ready.
Where would be a good place to have them done reasonably? Is there a good place local or do I need to send them off?
Thanks for the help.

I have no idea Tracy. Fred is porting my heads/intake. There's a gentleman in Florida that has done some of Fred's port work as well, he's pretty kick ass. I will get his information if you'd like... kind of a pita to ship, but he does a good job.

Westside machine here in houston does bad a$$ work.

I dunno...I used to like westside, but when they tried to insult my intelligence by asking if I knew the difference between a cast and forged crank because they lost mine, I became an ex-customer.
I haven't needed any work done since then, but that's beside the point :).

Wow! Lost a crank? That had to hurt...
I wonder how Erik Koenig's (Racer7088) place is doing; anybody heard? He might be worth a call...
Honestly, I think I'd talk to Ed Curtis or Brian Tooley about the application, and see what they think. You may not like the answer, but I don't think they lead you astray...
I've seen Tooley's work, and know of a couple of FTI cars; neither are disappointing...

Yeah, it hurt them to have to find me another block (they lost that too) and forged crank! Oh well, I guess it happens. The car did run great, so I guess I can't complain too much :).
I'll second the Ed Curtis suggestion. Everyone that I've heard with a setup from him is doing really well.
