View Full Version : What confused you as a kid?

I remember being confused when my dad told me what the solid yellow line in the middle of the road was for, "It's to let you know if it's safe to pass".
After sitting back and thinking bout that one for a while, I followed up with "How do the LINES know when it safe to pass?"
(I assumed that it just 'appeared' when there was a car headed our way that we couldn't see because we were behind the slower vehicle we wanted to pass - and then the line would just vanish when it WAS safe to pass) ?????
Mom and Dad got a laugh outta that one and this one other "confusement":
We were parked at a store my Dad had gone into. Me, my mom and older sister were sitting in the parking lot for a long time waiting for Dad to return.
I break the long silence by uttering two simple words: "grand pricks".
Mom and sister laugh until they're crying.
I just called it like I saw it! I was just reading out loud what was on the fender of the car parked next to us. Who knew at my age what the correct pronunication of "Gran Prix" was and why it was so funny to say it out loud ???

This wasn't me, but my brother. I wasn't in the car, but my mom told me about it later and I had a good laugh out of it.
My mom and brother were driving on the freeway somewhere and he asked why there were so many cars. My mom told him that it was rush hour. He replied "If it's rush hour, how come nobody is rushing?".
Hehe, I thought it was pretty funny. :)

Racism is no laughing matter, but I still can't help but get a smile when I think about the day one of my little brothers was sitting in the shopping cart in the grocery store, looked at the lady standing next to us and asked "Mom, why do they call them black people when they're really brown?"

When I was like 5 or 6 I remember wondering if when you turned off the T. V. if it stayed on the program you were watching. Like did have a pause? I remember trying to memorize what I was watching before I left. I don't think I ever did find out for myself. LOL:rolleyes:

I was 11 years old when I found out girls could fart.
My older sister accidentaly "fluffed" (as Ronda calls it) while watching TV once. I looked at her like, "I KNOW it just'sounded' like you farted, but I know better - girls can't do that"!
She turns beet red and hauls ass to her bedroom.
That's when "it" hit me - "sniff...sniff...EWW! Girls CAN fart!". Of course I break into an uncontrolled laughter.
She wouldn't look me in the eye for days after that.
:fart:
