the chat works with my netzero account but not my compuserve account.....why?

They may be blocking the ports (6667) used for IRC. You could call their support line and ask.

I've used java clients to get around this problem. If I remember right, it was called "JIRC". You pronounce it just like pRick's name LOL :p. You could try that to see if you can get around it.

Im extremely computer illiterate but I keep clicking the different connections that there are.

Clicking the different connections won't do anything, as you have found out, if your Internet Service Provider blocks the communication port that MIRC uses.

I am sure that's what is happening since you say it works with on one ISP, but not another. I'd recommend giving the ISP that your having trouble with a call and explain it to them. They may be able to tell you how to get around it.
