Got a question.... I purchased a 2001 Supercrew earlier this year and declined to get an extended warranty at the time. I still have the option of buying one until the warranty runs out and was considering getting one. Does anyone have an opinion on these things???? Can you bargain shop them or is it pretty much one price from one place??? And is it even worth dropping the cash for one????
Thanks for your input..

Todd,
I purchased the extended warranty on my F250. The Powerstroke comes with a 100k mile warranty on the engine so I decided to include all things. Mine is bumper to bumper. Includes things such as wear and tear on the interior, trans (SuperDuty autos are known to have problems), etc. I like the fact that just before 100k miles I can go in and replace things that are just "wearing out" The seats for example. It's almost like I can go in and get my truck a makeover. It's also nice peace of mind.
And yes you can haggle on price. My wife and I did at the dealer and we also went over the warranty before we left. You can also sell them back pro rated.

My wife and I bought her a 98 Trans Am when it was 2 years old and had 17,000 miles. We bought the 6 year 100,000 ext warr. for 900 dollars and it has paid for itself over and over. I would suggest that you buy it at the selling dealer. If you have any work done they will readily accept it, if you get it somewhere else they start to play games. I worked as a tech at a Ford dealer for 13 years and I saw this happen all the time.

I would sugjest you buy a ford ESP warranty it is good at all dealers and if you ever need repairs you do not have to wait for an aftermarket company to pay or denie the claim all together

Yes buy the manufactures warranty but I would stay away from aftermarket insurance companies. I am a technician at a Buick dealership and if the customer has GM's extended warranty (GMPP) , we just simply fix the car. Now most if not all the other companies out there are one big pain in the ass to deal with. They either dont cover that repair, won't buy everything it needs to do the job correctly, or send out an insurance adjuster that takes days to show up and then calls the company back and makes the sell for you. This cost everyone time and money. Now if you can find one that includes wear and tear on interior pieces then get that too but I have never seen it.

I bought an aftermakret one for my PSD Excursion from the largest US Warranty carrier (Warranty USA). I got a notice last month they filed bankruptcy and my $1296 is gone with no hope for settlement. Sucks!!!!!
