I thought you were doing a twin set up?

sure am... the downpipes are going to bolt to a factory style h-pipe, so I needed to jig up the mounting points and make sure they were in the correct spot... hence, bolting the headers up, bolting the flanges up, and welding them to the body. :D

Nice work Forrest.... looks like it's coming along well!

As the pics loaded (on dial-up) I was thinking to myself, "Why the hell does he have the headers on there normally?..." LOL

What is final pricing gonna be on the kits? What will they include? I bet you could sell a few up here in Wichititty Falls......

Nay-Nay,

I wish I had your perception of my energy... last night was fueled by Hussong's tequila... I didn't do ANYTHING today except load those pics! LOL! (hurtin'!)

had a little hair of the dog this afternoon ~3PM (hey, I got up at 7AM!) and I'm having a little more right now before bed...

I'm tellin' ya man, if it weren't for caffeine and alcohol, I probably wouldn't get ANYTHING done... from outward appearances it may seem like I'm industrious, but I swear it's all illusion! :p

red95,

I can't give price estimates right now... I don't know what my final cost/energy outlay is going to be, so I don't want to underbid and have to bump the price... that's just unprofessional IMHO... but, I will say this much:

the goal is to offer either: the cheapest kit availabe OR a higher quality kit than the cheapest available AT that same price

the cheapest I've seen is here at www.itsturbo.net

from what I understand, they've yet to ship a kit... my kit will be essentially the same but mine will be non-intercooled (and priced accordingly of course!) ,BUT I'm designing it with an intercooler in mind... so it will be easy to incorporate an intercooler... the design I have in mind is much like the INCON cooler...

don't get hung up on an intercooler BTW... my advice to someone building a turbo kit is always to not worry about it at first.... they are DEFINATELY nice, but not 100% necessary by any means. One guy on the jyturbo list made over 420 to the WHEELS with a 100% BONE STOCK EFI longblock (never had the valve covers off, unported stock intakes, etc.!!!!) with a pair of .60 trim T3's.

oh yeah, I forgot to mention, my kit is being designed to utilize the .60 trim T3's found on the non-SVO (edit for clarification: the SVO turbos are the same except they have a hose-out discharge compressor. my kit will allow someone to EASILY incorporate hose-out compressors by simply cutting off the 2 bolt flanges!) 2.3l Ford turbo motors as these are the most readily available turbos of suitable size at the junkyards... a buddy of mine has gotten his 3100ish race weight fairmont into the 9.8's with a pair of these turbos (non-intercooled I might add!) so the potential is certainly there... and the T3 is pretty much the industry standard as far as parts availability and upgradability... dropping ~$800 at your local turbo shop bumps your power potential from ~650 at the crank to ~1,000!

but the Ford turbos use a 2bolt flange for the discharge side of the turbo, so my kit will allow the user to bolt on a pair of Ford turbos with simple hand tools... I plan to sell the kits with and without the turbos (priced accordingly again)

the kit will include:

headers, downpipes, oil feed lines, oil return lines, discharge tubing (for EFI 302), gaskets, and fasteners...

I'm trying to help the "little guy" bolt on some serious horsepower without breaking the bank!!!

Thanks for the info Forrest...

Bryan's car is definitely the poster child for the JYTurbo guys...LOL (BTW, I used to go by BLK90LX on the Corral....back in the day....I watched along as Bryan shot for that goal of $3500 original cash outlay...LOL)

Seems like there would definitely be a market for your kits..especially if you can get the non-intercooled version down cheaper than an A-trim setup.

Like you mention, everything minus the turbos would also be a great idea IMHO. I've often thought of doing a JY Turbo setup, but with no connections on welding up the piping up here....I'd end up taking a bath on labor charges... Just the logistics of trying to get the car to a welder or visa-versa was enough to make me say "screw it"

As of now, there isn't a single turbo car up here and there actually are quite a few Mustangs. I guess with Nitrous Express HQ here....people are kind of fond of the juice..LOL But, I've talked with several Mustang guys who are very interested in doing a turbo setup...but don't know where to start...which is exactly the market I'm sure you're shooting for...LOL With Incon dead and Cartech's shitty service...there aren't many good options for turn-key turbo kits...

Keep us posted...!

ahh Darrell, I recognize the name and the handle!! :D

yeah, Bryan has certainly exceded that original budget, but the turbos are still junkyard units!

I'll DEFINATELY be posting updates as they come along!

WOW!!!! I've gotta ask though, any plans for a 351w option? ;)

Forrest

yes... I'm doing an initial run of 5 kits. based on the interest people have shown, I plan on starting on another run right after those sell, and then I'll probably do a run of Windsor kits.

Hey Forrest,

Have you checked these guys out?
http://www.proturbokits.com

Looks like a spin off of former Cartech employee(s) and The Horsepower Store (formerly Texas JAM).

I've seen that page, but I haven't really paid much attention to them as I don't think we're in competition w/ eachother...

different league type thing...

kits look good... but yeah, I heard it was some disgruntled Cartech employees who started it up.
