View Full Version : new rims for the cobra?- suggestions please.

I am thinking about getting rid of my cobra r's for something a little different. Every cobra I see either has R's or replicas.
I was even thinking of a different size like maybe 15"s but Im not sure what spacing I need for the back and how small I can go on the front and rear to clear the brakes/rotors.
I am puting on the lca's and uca's very soon so I can ditch that quad in the back I think.
Please feel free to add your .02 here. I think a 15" would be better for the occasional track trips since I could run a higher side wall?
But I know squat about tires:)

Ken,

I don't believe 15's will clear the rear brakes, and 16's won't clear the front. That said, your best bet is to stick w/17's or go 18" (bling, bling; yo!). I saw that Diversified has the '03 Cobra wheels for sale; might be worth a look.

Draglite XP's or ProStar XP's might be a good choice, but will be expensive at $200+ per wheel...

TorqueThrust II's? No, not right on a '94-98, IMHO...

Bullitt's? '99 Cobra's? What do you want the car to do? If you can sort that out, then buy the appropriate wheels based on purpose...

Fiske's? Budnik's?

Not to shoot a hole into your thoughts Chris..but I'm sure those '03 Cobras will be more then the XP's and Fiske's? LOL. Try $600+ per wheel. The Fiske's I want are $700 a piece.

BBS has some cool wheels. more of a road race type wheel. I think discount tire has them.

I like the Saleen flat 5 star wheels. I think they're Fiske look alikes. They are similar to Ben's wheels, I think.

dang I wanted to put a good set of slicks or drag radials on 15" rims in the back so I could realy plant the power at the track.

Like I told you a few months ago, get you some waffles and 16" ET Streets and go whoop some butt! They hooked darned good...Trust me :D

If I found some aftermarket 16's Im not sure what size to get for the back spacing and width also what size tire do you think I should use?
