Cellular Phone service provider?

Looking for opinions on which cell provider offers the best coverage for the Houston area. Looking to avoid a provider that offers a package deal that includes dropped calls, static, and a pain in my ass... :)

A friend of mine that used to install radios (cop/wrecker type) and do other sorts of communcations stuff said that Verizon is the best in Houston as far as # of towers and strength of signal.

I know I won't get Sprint. A couple of friends have them and when I use their phone it always seems to just drop the call....

sprint is horrible. every time i have ever used one, the static is horrible. i have a voice stream, it didnt have static at first, but now it does(i think its the phone)...never heard anything about verizon.

T-Mobile/Voicestream here. Ive never had any probs with them but once you get out of the area or out to the boonies reception is non-existant. In the Houston area its great though. Ive never had a prob with both of my VS phones.

I went around today and talked with all four of them and it looks like Verizon has the best deal for what I'm looking for. Since no onw had anything bad to say about them, I'm gonna give them a shot. Nice thing is I have 15 days to return the phone/service if I dislike it for any reason....so if the service blows.....I'm not stuck with it forever
