Otis would have been proud of me.

My front bumper ground fx (below the bumper line) was cracked up pretty bad after FFW/Ennis. I think I caught it while loading up the car on the trailer.

Anyway, this was my first time doing all of the work, prep and paint, by myself. I bought a halfway decent HVLP paint gun (Cambell Hausfield sp?) and hit up a local auto paint supply store and told them what I wanted to do. They hooked me up with everything I needed (all PPG stuff) and I proceeded to get down and dirty.

I know pictures dont show all of the details, but the pix show you that I at least painted my front ground effects the right color!

A couple more can be found here (http://saleen.v8mustang.com/pics/paint).

:)

Whenever it comes time to pull the motor out, I plan on doing the engine bay. I'm still undecided on whether or not to try and fill the holes (with bondo) or not. I'm definitely not going to even attempt to fill them by welding them.

PS - All of that white stuff on the concrete floor is from me wet sanding my fingers to the bone trying to get a smooth surface prior to painting.

LOL! Very nice Ben! Sorry to hear it got damaged, but glad you have it fixed! Like everything else, things are not as hard as they appear when you get the right tools and consult the local experts, LOL!

Now, did you fix the chip Otis put in your hood too?

Nay!

BTW Ben: What is the paint code on your car? I hope Woody is the same shade...

Thanks Nay. :)

The paint code is YO, or maybe it's Y0 (zero or oh, i'm not sure which). The color name is oxford white and in PPG, the color is DBC3620 for the dual stage base and clear coat paint.

Nice Ben. When doing my bay I lined the entire bay with a heavy fiberglass lay with serious resin and learned the torque would rip it out. Was also told by the paint supply house on West Rd that bondo would do the same. Their recommendation was to weld and grind, which is what Bubbabro did with his. Looks great but is really time consuming.

Later,
Bubba

Ugh, that's what I'm concerned about. I don't have the skills nor the patience for welding in all of those holes. So I guess I'll just clean it up as best I can and put a fresh coat of paint on.

How much welding is there? I guess I need to look at my car for that answer.

My 89 has about a gabillion holes in the engine compartment. But remember none of mine are being used; all wires are harnessed under the body panels, battery in rear, almost no wiring up front. A/C, EFI, and other elect's would fill a bunch of those harness retainer holes.

Yup there are a ton of them. Add to that fact that:

1. I don't own a welder
2. have never welded
3. and I don't want my car down for a year while I weld up all of those little holes

and the idea of just painting the engine bay as is sounds pretty enticing.

Unless Mr. Slater or Nay want to move in to my place, with their welder, for a week. :)
