My input shaft is rusted!

The input shaft..or whatever 'covers' it, on the 3550 has rust on it. What should I use to clean it up before the installation this weekend?

That would be the steel bearing retainer that comes with the Tremec's. What to clean it with? Hmm, I guess it depends on how "rusted" it is.

I dont wanna give you the wrong info, so I'll let Neighbors chime in on this one.

I start off with trying to wipe/rub it off with some wd-40 and a rag.

If it is heavily scaled, use a Scotch Brite pad (the red ones from HiLo, or small green ones from your nearest grocery store), some WD-40, and a polish it up!;)
