View Full Version : Why Oh Why?!?!?!

Why won't any of these awesome racing organizations come to Texas? The only cool racing org's we have (outside of the classic NHRA) is Fun Ford, Super Chevy, and then the various Outlaw 10.5 races held at all of the smaller tracks.

I want the NMRA, NMCA, and hell while we're at it PRO, to come to Texas! We've got awesome tracks, NHRA loves us when they bring the big boys to town, so why can't the other big league racing leagues come to town as well?

I've seriously considered relocating to another state merely based upon it's racing organization attendence. From what I can tell, living in Kentucky would be awesome as it's pretty centrally located to the East Coast racing scene, and yet still close enough to the Michigan tracks as well.

I know people have emailed the NMRA before about it and it's more of a scheduling issue with them. How do you squeeze a race in Texas that doesn't have a week attendance because of a bigger race the following weekend...Which is what FFW/Houston has to deal with due to the WFC being only 2 weeks after it each year.

*sigh*

Sorry to hear you're moving. Dibs on your home place (please clean out the pool before leaving - remember I was there to witness the partiers in there last Saturday night).

Shane, Pack your shit.

Cereally, Ben,

I think it all comes down to the almighty dollar. I'm sure that's the number one priority for the decision makers.

If someone would step up to the plate in Houston with some bucks, it'd probably happen. But then , because all the major's are already scheduled years in advance, we'd get the races in the rainy season - and you know about how many rain outs HRP has had, right?

Just my humble O.

There's got to be a way to get these guys to plan events at HRP/Ennis, even if they do have to do it years in advance.

We've got a HUGE hotrod market down here! Hell we race all year long simply because we can! That just breeds gearheads and I'm sure they'd come out of the woodwork for large organizations like that.

Don't get me wrong. I appreciate the 10.5 Outlaw scene that we have. But none of it is really organized liked the NMRA/NMCA/NSCA or even PRO. I wanna watch the big boys race and not have to drive cross-country to see it.

Let's start our own big boy racing league. Oh wait a minute, someone just mentioned that it took sponsors. Damn!
How about Compaq/HP, BP, Exxon, Shell, who else is based here???

Oh well, back to work I go....

The real answer ben is that NHRA is proprietary and won't allow for varies reasons other organizations to use "there" tracks. since we have real NHRA nationals here without risking losing the NHRA contract they are only allowed to have NHRA sactioned events. NMRA and the such are IHRA sactioned so they could run Sealy or Navasota but the closest 1/4 IHRA track I know of is Round Rock and it isn't long enough to shut down at.

You had me thinking you knew what the hell you were talking about Shag...... until you DANGLED YOUR PARTICIPLE AT THE END OF YOUR SENTENCE!

(Moderator: Where you been at? Where you going to? Where'd you come from? Please control the dangling of members participles.)

:D

Sounds like a plausible reason though, Shag. Ya gotta source?

Shag,

How do you explain Fun Ford Weekend and Super Chevy? They are allowed to use HRP (an NHRA track).

All of the NMRA races are at other NHRA tracks. Most of the NMCA races are at NHRA tracks and just from briefly looking most (if not all) of the PRO series are at NHRA tracks as well.

All of this info came from the following web pages:
www.nhra.com for the track listings
www.nmraracing.com for the NMRA
www.fasteststreetcar.com for the PRO series
www.headsupreview.com for the NMCA series

Well I can be wrong but that is what I was told by "bubba" the old tech inspector at HRP this was many moons ago too.

"Bubba"? The land locked sea-elephant?

I can't stand that guy. Very biased as to who gets through tech and who doesn't. I haven't seen him around lately, I sure hope he's outta there!
