the question is... what springs do i get Eibach(1" to 1.5"), Intrax(2"), or BBK(1.5")

oh and what are the advantages and disadvantages on specific rate and progressive rate? what would be better for weekend "spirited driving"
:-D

ive got 225/50/16 on the front, and 245/50/16 on the back are those big enough to cause problems?

You should take a look at Motorsport's lowering springs. That's what I had in my 96. They are a much smoother ride than the Eibach's. Most of the people I know that have gotten Eibach's say the only benefit is they are cheap...

Just my .02

what Chris said Those motorsport springs made his car handle bad ass and the ride quality was still there !!

Like Chris mentioned, stay with something less than a 1.5" drop to allow you to run a decent-sized tire and also to maintain the suspension geometry.

Your ride quality is largely based upon your dampners, NOT your springs. Granted, a 800# spring is gonna ride a little rougher than a 400# spring, but it won't be overly harsh if you have the correct strut on it. Unfortunately, there is no cheap way to get a strut that will handle much more than about 500# fromts. You're looking at Tokico or Bilsteins (about $5-600/set) or Koni Yellows ($700ish) if you go much above about 700# . Your factory springs are about 450ish on the front (depending on year model).

Something like the FMS "B" spring has a stock rate and just lowers the car. Improves handling due to the lower center of gravity, but doesn't do much else. The FMS "C" spring, however, has 650# specific rate fronts and with the incorrect dampner (read: stock struts) rides pretty damn bad. I had the Cs on my 95 with Bilsteins and it rode great...

Springs are rated in the amount of force to compress the spring one inch (i.e. 650 lbs/inch). A specific-rate spring will take 650# for one inch, 1300# for two inches, 1950# for three, etc, etc. A progressive rate spring might take #650 for the first inch and a total of 1500# for two inches. A specific rate spring is preferred for all-out handling as it provides predictable compression and the progressive has traditionally been used on the street.

My vote would be for the FMS B springs or the softer Eibachs (I can never remember which is which..LOL) Or, if you want to drop the $$ on struts/shocks, I would get the H&R Race springs and either Bilsteins or Koni SA Yellows

Good Luck

FWIW Darrell my Eibachs we did last weekend are already settling and the ride is great.
