It's looking like we are going to try starting the turbo install memorial day weekend. Joseph Boem (gt350mustang) was kind enough to offer his garage for the install. I need those tools in the subject so that I can cut the frame and weld in the clearance plate. Could probably get away with just the welder, but I think a die grinder with a cutoff wheel would make cutting the frame alot easier. I am sure you all are more than welcome to stop by Josephs house and check it out, right Joseph?????:o

The first one I did, I used a cut off wheel and compressor, and I can say it SUCKED!!!!!!!!! The cuts were far from precise and thus the welding of it looked like sheeeot.

The second one I did, I had the help of a plasma cutter. Once it was cut out, the welding of the plate was CAKE bc it fit so much better.

If you can get it all cut out, and Joe has a correct 240 plug (or an adapter) I can haul my welder over and weld the plate in for you. Unless you're doing it with motor in the car, in which case you can drive over here from Joe's.

See if you can borrow a plasma to do the cutting. If not, I wonder how a sawzall would do. That's like the only way I haven't tried to cut it out, hehe.

Lemme know....

Voice of experience tells all! Does any one have a plasma cutter?!?!? :)

Fred, I think since the motor is coming out anyways, just do the frame rail notch with it out....would make things easier (assuming you dont mind coming over)

Nope, dont mind, just gotta make sure I can use the welder there (plug). The plug I have looks like a regular 110v grounded 3 prong plug, but it's LARGER.

Ya seein this Joe?

If his isn't the same, I THINK an adapter can be bought, but you'd have to check into it.

Btw, what weekend is "memorial day weekend"?

Oh ya forgot about the plug issue when I wrote my last message. I would assume its the same plug that dryers use right? So I guess the question might be , were is his dryer and/or how long is the cable on your welder?:D If it turns out that he doesnt have one, then we will just do it at your place.... no big deal.

Thanks Robert! actually I will be heading to my parents house in Dallas between now and then so I might just grab my Dads sawzall but if I dont get it for some reason then I'll let you know.

I havent heard from Joseph in a day or two. Maybe he's getting cold feet:D Anyone have his number? If so, PM it to me.

Fred, FYI Memorial weekend is the 25th-27th of this month.

Chris,
Thanks for the offer. I am sure Joeseph is still up for it but its always good to have a backup plan. Come on up with that plasma and you can do your "exploration" of my torque arm/panrod bar.

ok, i made it. just remember that i normally work 13 to 15 hours each on wednesday and thursday. as such i don't feel like typing much. cold feet!!!!!!!!!!!! please, i don't know the meaning . my 220 looks like a regular 110 grounded plug with the flat prongs splayed. does this help any? i drove the coupe for an hour on tuesday , so i hope it is ready for regular driver duty. may find out this weekend.

Well if that plug doesnt work, we could always use Chris's 110v sourced welder.

Good to hear your car is running smoothly/ with no problems!
