Isn't the ignition module on the steering column? At least that is the case on the Fox body. The TFI module is on the distributor.
FWIW the "break-off head" bolts on the ignition module can be re-used. Ultimate PoMoFo. :D

I think you're looking for the TFI and on the 94-95, it's not on the dist. It's over near the airbox. Darrell can give you more details when he sees this thread.

Yep... under the factory airbox/MAF meter. It looks just like the one on the side of your distributor but it's mounted to a metal heat sink
Is this for your buddy with the white SN-95?

yea, this is my buddy with the white 95. Every now and then the car just wont start. Kind of acts like its out of gas. It cranks and cranks but wont start. leave it for a little while and it fires right up. He doesnt have any problems when driving. Got any ideas on what it could be. I was going to take the module off and have it tested.

I would say that is a real likely diagnosis. I think I mentioned it when we fixed yours, but sometimes (usually when they first start to go) they will malfunction when they are warm but work when they are cold. So, if you pull it off and have it tested, it may pass since it'll be cold.
I guess the best way would be to drive the car around a bunch, park at O'Reilly's, verify it won't start, pull the TFI and run inside...hehe
Good Luck...if you need a hand with anything lemee know

He did say that is when it happens most is when the car is at its warmist. say drive around and let it sit for 15 min or so. Ill give you a hollar if we cant figure it out. Its just a pain in the ass because it only does it every now and then.

Pull some codes, I bet you get 212: Loss of ignition diagnostic module(?) circuit at SPark OUTput; short to ground (or something like that).
If that's the case, I will bet more money that it is the stator/pick up sensor in your distributor.
I went through the exact same thing your friend did. My car would warm up, then die. I would have no spark whatsoever. Then after about 15 minutes, it would fire up and I'd be fine until the car cooled off and then was warmed up again. Eventually it would take longer and longer to fire up until it was completely dead.
BTW, to get the TFI module off, you need a 5.5mm socket or nut driver.

thats the thing.....it doesnt die. when it starts it runs normal. the only problem is sometimes it just doesnt start.

Oh, ok. I thought it read that you drove around and it died, then sit 15mins or so and it was fine. Sorry (though my $$ is still on the stator :)).
