I had an SCT BA3000 MAF for sale on WSM for a few weeks. I bought it brand new and had it on my cobra for about 2 weeks. We drove the car to and from PSI in Webster for tuning once. Id say about 60 miles round trip. I was advised by Patrick at PSI, that this MAF was too big and out of range for my setup, and I would be better off with a smaller unit. So I put this one up for sale on WSM for $120, even though I paid almost $250 for it about a month beforehand.
The guy that I sold it to lives in Corpus so naturally I had to ship it to him. About a month goes by and now the guy is telling me "it is junk", and "the sensors arent right" and " it keeps shutting off" and he wants his money back. Generally I am very understanding about these situations and I am willing to help out 98% of the time. I think this is going to have to be the exception. Apparently his "mechanic" says its no good and so do alot of other people. I know I never had any issues with it "shutting off". I dont even understand what he means.. The car is shutting off or the MAF is shutting off? He cannot give me a straight answer other than its a POS and its junk. Now he is saying he is going to sell it on WSM and I am responsible for it if whoever buys it is unhappy with it. For it to be messed up he would have had to dropped it, or sprayed some carb cleaner or worse inside of it or who knows.. I know I didnt have any issues like that when I had it. The only issue I had, which is why I couldnt use it, in conjunction with a sticky TB It was too lean at WOT (http://www.pomoforacing.com/forums/showthread.php?11332-About-to-pull-my-hair-out..&daysprune=365). I sold him the MAF on WSM where I am an admin on the board. Why would I sell him a part that is junk and doesnt work on a board where I moderate?
Bottom line, I feel like I cant do anything for this guy at this point, but I wanted some other people's opinions on the matter. It should have been a red flag for me that this guy was going to be a pain in the ass when every message he sent to me was full of bad punctuation and misspelled words. I hate that.

I'm with you. He did something to it, or it was damaged in shipping. If it wasn't a month since he got it, I would say that he deserves his $$ back, but not now. He could call SCT to get it repaired or replaced (at his cost of course).

That's a tough one. Maybe he destroyed it, maybe his mechanic screwed it up, or maybe it was damaged in shipment. Maybe have him send it to SCT, let them diagnose it and then decide from there?

That was my thought. Have an independent person look at it. If it was junk when you sold it, then he would have most likely had problems right away, not a month later.
