FFW just announced their 2003 schedule (http://www.funfordevents.com/Media/article_detail.phtml?articleid=26[/url). Ennis will be staying in September again next year so they can add two new west coast events after Ennis. Grrrr! I always liked Ennis being the last race of the year cause it brought out the big boys. Now they'll probably stay home and go to the NMRA's Bowling Green race which is next weekend since FFW has crappy pay outs.

Well then, I guess I'll just race in the Clash of the Titans True Street event next year. This year it's at the end of October, like it should be...
They just lost another one, IMHO...

Well seeing their schedule got me riled up enough to fire an email to the NMRA and beg, plead, and bitch at them for having a Texas venue in 2003. I wrote to Charlie Harmon - Event Director, charmon@promediapub.com
Charlie,
Do you guys have an ETA on the NMRA 2003 schedule? Please, oh PLEASE, tell me you have a stop lined up somewhere in the south, preferably TEXAS! Come on now. Murrillo, Havemann, Derrick, Kenjo Kelly, and many more are down here. Are you guys just avoiding us or what??? What's it take to bribe you? We need a Texas NMRA event! I'll even buy you some bar-b-que and a few beers to wash it down with!
….Just another Texas weekend racer who's ready for something other than FFW to come to Texas….
I wonder if I'll even get an acknowledgement.

LOL! You go Ben! It would be KILLER if the NMRA would have an event in Texas in Oct, to REPLACE FFW...
LOL!
Maybe we should start an internet campaign? FFW isn't the only game in town, contrary to what Mr. Klass thinks...

I'd love it if the PRO Fastest Street Car (http://www.fasteststreetcar.com/) series would come to Texas too. But I'll settle for COTT. :)

I dont understand why having FFW 2 weeks earlier than in past years is such a bad thing? Hell, I like it, b/c it gives me a month before things like COTT or Buick v Ford shootout. In the years past, I couldn't go to the Buick v Ford shootout, b/c it was too close to the Ennis date, and I couldn't afford it after spending the $$ at Ennis.
I dont think the Ennis race not being the last race of the year will hurt much, b/c for most of the big boys, it WILL be (along with the NMRA BG race) b/c most wont drive way out to the west coast. Also, Ennis is such a central location for a LOT of racers. I think the turnout will remain consistent with past years. Only time will tell.
Hell, what would be GREAT is if Texas got an NMRA event in June/July/August time. That would give us FFW in May, a COTT or two during the next 2-3 months, an NMRA race, another FFW in Sept, a COTT in Oct, and even one in Nov. That's prob an event once a month.
Lastly, it's better by not having it on UT/OK weekend, due to traffic reason and for the convenience of the fans of those teams.
Can you guys give me your reasons why having FFW at the end of Sept is a bad thing? Why should the event be in October? I must be missing something.

Notice that FFW is still calling Ennis "13th Annual Ford Mustang World Finals." Almost like the west coast events won't count for points or whatever.
FFW appears to be a big clusterfack and the rules aren't always all that consistent...but it's Mustang racing. It may not be the best, but it's better than nothing.
Adding a NMRA event to complement FFW rather than replace would be the hot ticket IMHO

It's not a bad thing, but it interferes with my other hobbies. No biggie; I won't go to FFW...
I think the turn-out will be hurt; most people save the 'best for last', and now that you have two west coast events, we'll miss out, I'm afraid.
The Clash of the Titans is a neat event, and Texas-based. It really needs some organization; if it gets that, it'll be great! The King of the Hill events are pretty good too; I like to see a bit of variety in the cars that race...
LOL! An event a month will cost more than two events spaced two weeks apart, LOL! The schedule for both FFW and the Mustang-GN event are both known, and could be saved for...
It doesn't make much difference to me when it is; I liked it when we stood a chance of cooler weather. I don't care for the heat much, and neither do the cars and/or fans. Houston FFW is pathetic compared to Ennis, and I'd hate to see Ennis suffer by preceeding two events.
So does this mean the only time I'll get to join you guys is T&T at HRP? Maybe...
..if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

I dont think MOST of the east coast guys that come to Ennis will go to the west coast. Look at the NMRA turnout for those events. It was SAD. That's why they had them for no points, b/c hardly anyone in the points race went to that race. As far as I know (could be wrong) I think the NMRA cancelled their Firebird race. Like Darrell pointed out, the schedule is worded to lead one to believe the west coast events are not for points. If they follow the example given by the NMRA, this will be the case. Time will tell.
2 events in 2 months will cost more than 2 events in 2 weeks? I dont understand how if they are in the same locations; I see them being the same amt of money. However, there's more time in between the events to save up. Also, time off of work and school comes into play, when going out of town two weekends in a row, vs spacing them out.
IMO, the Houston FFW event is bad b/c it is so far south. Also, b/c one of the bigger races of the year is the SAME WEEKEND and WFC is 2 weeks later. NMRA pays out more so they will go to those races instead, when it's on the SAME weekend. Luckily (for now), the BG race isn't the same weekend as Ennis. If they move it to the same weekend, then yes, Ennis will suffer. Does that mean I wont go? Nah, b/c it's still a great time and it's Ford racing. I'd like to go to as many events as I can afford (money/time/distance-wise).

That's what I was referring to. If you intend to run/spectate in all of these, it's going to take quite a bit of time and money...
September for me has always been 'hunting month', and I cannot give that up. Whatever events I can attend in October, I will try to do so. November travel is out, as I normally go to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving. It's one big balancing act, and unfortunately for me some of the weights have been shifted and I have to to bow out...Selfish? Yes, as it's one of the few times I get to see the majority of you guys (yes, even you Houston guys!)
You boys have fun! Wear your boots and shorts for me!
