Got a call from a friend of mine in North Carolina yesterday. He daily drives a triple black 90 GT vert and had an incident with some black ice! :) The Crepe Myrtle didn't fare so well, but the car is still driveable.

He's fine and really it could have been a lot worse, but he's on the hunt for the driver's-side GT fender molding (as shown in the last pic). Apparently this is no longer available and 50resto told him his only option was to find a used one. Anyone have one laying around? I'm heading to NC on Jan 3rd and could probably throw that in my suitcase.

anyone ever notice how it's always "black ice" that causes crashes?

and how in the hell do you hit "black ice" in broad daylight???????

it's never "regular plain ole icey roads", it's always the demon/invisible black ice!

LMAO

It can be dark like a normal puddle of water would be, not light/white like ice is a lot of times. He may have thought he was about to drive through water and it ended up being ice.

Black ice refers to ice that is lightly covered over by snow and is not visible. I don't see snow in those pics. LOL!

IMHO black ice is usually the term people use when they "get in over their head"..crash the car and cant accept their own in ability to control the vehicle.

Much like what you see in the "snowless, iceless" mustang with the windows down pic.

when driving in "Glare/black ice" conditions, I dont see folks driving around with their windows down..

damned black ICE!!

LMAO

Very rarely do you hear people "losing it" on "regular ice".
it's always that dastardly BLACK ICE!

Black ice is a misnomer. It refers to ice on a roadway that does not color the paving. Black ice forms when moisture hits a surface so cold the water freezes on contact prior to wetting the surface.

What looks like dry concrete is covered in ice. As Shane states, it is usually accompanied by snow etc.

If you take a look behind the car to the lanes in the background, they look awful shiny
