OK Ben, Guff, and now Jason, "It's all your fault!" :D We ended up picking out a new vehicle also last week, trading in the Yukon XL. We've actually been kind of looking for a couple of weeks, and finally found one in new enough condition at a decent price that was still available. Once they drop the price, the clean SUVs go quick!
We got an 07 Eddie Bauer Explorer with the 3rd row. The payments are not too much more than those on our almost 8 yr old Yukon were, plus we should save $50+ a month in gas (if I can keep my wife at home!). It gets 21+ on the highway and should get better city mileage than the Yukon. I really like the computerized mileage monitor, ave MPG, gallons used, instant MPG (a graph, not numbers :( ) plus a few other things. It is a 4x4, not what we really wanted, but hopefully the MPG shouldn't be much worse than 2wd.

Thanks guys. My wife really likes it, much easier to drive then the Yukon. I even told her I might take it from her if she wants something even smaller when the older two are in college in 4-5 yrs.
It's not "new", it is exactly 1 yr old. I don't think I could ever buy a truely new vehicle equipped the way I would like. We got it for 50% of the sticker price of a new 2008 equipped exactly the same,($17,495) not too bad for a certified vehicle with a factory extended warranty until 6 yrs , 100,000 miles.

Very nice Thomas. I agree with you on never buying a new car again. I purchased my current truck 8 months old and saved probably around 10 to 12 grand over a new one. I will say this, all you guys buying new cars are making it hard on me to not consider buying a new one. I have been hearing the adds from dodge offering $20,000 off new trucks and it makes me wonder how cheap I could get in a new ram quad cab diesel 4x4 for. I need to just pay mine off and not have any car payments and be happy with that.

That's pretty much the same deal we got on my wife's expedition!

I'd be interested to know the fine print on this deal. You probably have to go fill up out at that dealership, or some other silly crap that most people won't do.

I just sold my wife's 05 expy and picked up a 05 Freestyle (Xover)
The expy was a 4.6 and it drank gas. 12cty-16 hwy
New ride with a 4v 3.0 averaged 24.8 to S. Padre last week.
The new fords fuel computer is pretty cool.
