Popping bavk through the intake at WOT

My 95GTS is running fine except at WOT. It starts popping and sounds like its coming through the CAI. The tach is also acting wierd. Its not smooth it jerks as it goes up. Anyone have any ideas?

I've had this a few times and it was the pickup sensor in the distributor each time (that's what I get for not buying a new one). Easiest way to check is to swap out the dist with one that is known good. When this was happening I would get code 212 even though the check engine light never came on. Check to see what codes you have.
It also could be the TFI acting up. Most major parts stores will check this for you if you pull it off.

We have been thinking it might be the pickup coil. We havent checked for codes yet. I will do it. Thanks

The parts store checking the tfi is not fool proof. I took them a known bad one and it tested good.

Check your grounds.

Check the stupid stuff too, like plugs/wires, cap/rotor, etc.
