Note the mexican enginneered axle stands by yours truely

Welded up the tubes. Not that my car has the power to twist them.

I think my cooking motivated the guy. You might want to keep that in mind if you ever hire him to do some work.:fu:

He essentially rebuilt the rear axle to axle. All new everything & a set of Motive 390's. I'm sure he could narrow you rearend. He knows what's up. Feeding him seemed to help.

LOL! Thanks for the plug Whitey, er Brett! I just hate to not weld the tubes while a rearend is out. It takes just a bit of work to do it...
Looks very good with the new rotors and calipers attached. I hope the (re)install goes well...
Ben: I suggest a whole 'nother assembly in your ride, LOL! Not that yours has anything wrong with it, but why stop with just welding the tubes, LOL?! If I were you, I'd obtain another housing, order an LPW Ultimate cover and Ultimate brace, 9" ends from Moser, new axles, learn how to cook, and make 'buddies' with someone :D...You have the poop now to require C-clip elims, and with the amount you will soon have, that poor old 'vert is going to strain a bit...(besides, <s>we</s> someone could sneak in an inch narrowing or more ;))
Nay!

Sounds like a nice recipe Nay. I can't do c-clip elims since I have rear discs. Or atleast I've been told I can't. What's an LPW Ultimate cover? Is it like a T/A cover/girdle? If so, I already have one of those. What's an ultimate brace? Damn what you're talking about sounds like a complete 9"!

So is there any reason, in your opinion, for going with an 8.8 diff with 9" axles/tubes vs an all out 9"?

Ben,
I think with the 9" ended 8.8 you are going to come out a good bit cheaper and still have a pretty dang stout rear.
FWIW you can do c-clip elims with discs...it just requires machining of the c-clip eliminators to fit flush with the caliper brackets from what I understand. I would personally, and will eventually, do the hybrid rear. 9" ends give you the assurance of not having to worry about leaking c-clip elims and the cost difference is minute in the grand scheme.
Yes NAY has been preaching to me for a while now, LOL!
